Social media users worldwide, including in India, faced a disruption as popular platforms Facebook and Instagram experienced a widespread outage on Tuesday evening. Many users reported being logged out of their accounts on both Facebook and Instagram, with difficulties in logging back in. Additionally, some users encountered issues while trying to refresh their Instagram feeds.

The outage led to a surge in reports on DownDetector.com, a website that tracks online service disruptions. Users globally took to alternative platforms such as Elon Musk's micro-blogging site X to report the ongoing issues.
